What people are saying...

The downloadable tune lessons have proven to be an incredibly effective addition to my piping studies. Not only is Jori a world-class piper, but he is a world-class teacher, too. The lesson portion of each download pinpoints key areas of the tune to focus on and then discusses strategies for practicing them. The tune recording on the pipes lets me listen and learn by 'osmosis'. I would highly recommend these lessons to any piping student. They are easy to download, full of excellent material and a real bargain too!

-Phil

The tunes are invaluable for players like me who are on their own -- given work and family, I don't play with a band and don't have access to other players that I can learn from on a regular basis. The sound files give me a chance to hear (and re-hear) a tune played professionally by a top player and then your written commentary provides me with the framework I need for learning the tune on my own.

-Sam G.

I was impressed by the professional quality of the Tune Lesson Downloads and how well the mechanics of the website worked. I was able to quickly identify the tune I was interested in working on and within a couple minutes had purchased the download and received the e-mail that provided the download instructions. Within 5 minutes I was listening to a professional quality recording while looking at the score. The background sheet on the tune and verbal instruction completes a package that I'm finding very useful. I definitely expect to be purchasing more of these downloads in the future and highly recommend this service to any serious piping student. Thanks!

-Bruce

Your tune lessons are exactly what I have needed to take my piping to another level. Downloading the lesson and being able to listen and practice at my own time is ideal for my busy schedule. The quality of the recording is exceptional. I'm able to listen in my car, at lunch time and at home. Practicing the different executions you highlight is the fun part of every practice for me. Your insight on the rhythm patterns has proved invaluable and made my tune flow much better and more musical. Thanks again for a world class lesson. Jori, you're the man!

-Robert S.

Thank you for the tune lesson downloads, I have downloaded two tunes that I'm learning. The important areas that you have pointed out really helped. I will get more tunes in the future. Keep up the great lessons.

-M.B.

I am really impressed with the files that came with the tune lesson download. The soundfile with Jori's lesson on the tune is first class, with a clear demonstration of how to play the tune and where to watch out for difficult passages. And it is very nice to have a soundfile with the tune played on the pipes as well. Both recordings are clearly professional done. An additional 3 files are provided with the download -- one with the music, another with a brief history behind the tune and technical informations about the tune (like type of tune and which embellishments are in the tune), and a third read me file describing the files you get with the download. All these files are set up professionally. The file with tune history and tune description is very useful. The tune lessons downloads have been very useful for me.

-S.L.

Thanks Jori! Your Downloadable Bagpipe Lessons have really helped. After several years of private lessons and one year with a Pipe Band, I find your "multimedia" approach to teaching is exactly what works best for me. Downloading tunes and lessons to my computer allows me to easily repeat them as often as I need to and so allocate my time better. In my particular case with any musical instrument, the learning process involves reading the music and carefully listening to how it should sound (over and over and over again). Then after working out the technical aspects & timing (slowly at first ) it is a HUGE bonus to actually watch someone play the tune! Actually, for me the visual aspect is just as important as all the rest of it . Bagpipelessons.com puts it all together - keep it up!

Thanks,
Paul M.

Webcam Lesson Testimonials...

I am not fortunate enough to have a piping teacher in close proximity to my home with Jori's ability. I searched for quite a while to find the right instructor. I was a bit hesitant at first to engage in lessons with a webcam for all the obvious reasons. After reading some of the tesimonials and the information on BagpipeLessons.com, I decided to contact Jori for more information. I found him to be very professional and accomodating when it came to discussing lesson arrangements. I did not feel pressured by him in any way nor did I get the feeling that he felt I was wasting his time. Many instructors I have run across seem put off when you tell them you are an adult amateur piper needing instruction. I have only had a handful of lessons with Jori thus far but my piping has improved more in the last few months than it has in the last few years. Together we set very practical and attainable short term goals for my piping and I am happy to say that I am ahead of schedule. Jori is about results. I feel lucky and honored to have Jori as my instructor and friend. I look forward to many years of instruction and improvement under his tutelage.
